Ok boys. Here's the place to bag 'em or praise 'em.
With all the crap lately, i thought i would start a thread to let it all out (my therapist says it's healthy)
Shyt flinging is allowed and accepted and, hell, even encouraged
By the way, I aren't going to bite not like some

Here we go.......they are totally bullet proof

BRB, gone to put some popcorn in the microwave :P

Cheers,

had my old girl for over 5 years and never let me down once, only problem i hated was how slow they are in standard form (didn't know then about all the engine mods you guys do to them). Any way i fixed that problem in a extreme approach.

Overall very trusty, capable old trucks with very minor TLC needed and at the end of the day id still rather one any day over a p.o.s surf or rollux

Here's one for you terrano boys. What makes them a better option than a gen 2 pajero? Pajero have stronger IFS for a start, what does terrano have better?

Tell that to Micheal Jackson in Thriller.

Early D21's had really cool interior colour schemes (rapist red, multi toned blue and poo brown)

So far wayyyy too many positives :?

Cheers,

agree with this, and the 2. turb intercooled with a few mods can leave a modded 1kz surf for dead

WD21 is prettier...
WD21 drivetrain has fewer moving parts, simple conventional transfer case, no sensors or electrics, no centre diff to worry about.

Gen 2 Pajero has a very clever but very sophisticated 4wd system which would worry me in the bush.

In saying that I have a lot of respect for them.

Weak gearbox. easy fixed
weak steering easy fixed and cheaply
Other than that they are pretty good.
td27 slow as all get out-easy fixed

They not a bad wagon at all.

R50 manuals are rare but not impossible to find here though. Think D22

Or just go auto :D

My 5 year old son loves it
Its easy to work on and play with
Parts are actually bloody cheap and fairly easy to get
Looks good
Compact for a LWB and handles well, can still fit the whole family in and give them all a scare :D

Could do with more power from stock, but what do you expect after 22 years of running of a TD27T. Easily fixed though.
Torsion bars are anoying...don't bother trying to keep it level

Have put many hours into it, not because I have to, but because its fun!!

My first 4x4 was a terrano, loved it. Was pretty capable even when the only mod was a set of mud tyres

Doesn't he know that its just the evolution of the Terrano.
It's given up on flapping the IFS, now it wants to flap the entire front...soon it will be flying.

Funniest thing i ever saw was a guy in a mint terrano coming down a rocky walled chute up at shipwreck bay. His eyes must have been a bit crooked because the chute was at least half a foot narrower than his terrano! 20 meters later the thing was a crumpled wreck! Not the terranos fault - it did remarkably well, i was suitably impressed.

I do like that the xfer case dosn't hang down
The IFS is shit, but once you sas them to get reasonable articulation and strength, you loose there nice road manners.
The arse works well and is strong
There cheap.
The after market options are shit.... or very limited

Whew, I bought one at the weekend (have wanted to get one for a while, used to play with one on a mate's farm when we were kids). Glad to read not everyone hates them (got a few toyota/mitsi fanboys in my circle of friends).

Forgot how slow they are though!

Also, hi I'm James. Probably see some of you at one of the next Hibiscus meets at the Wade seeing I'm relatively local to the area.
