I'm building a snorkel for my 1989 4JB1 Bighorn, I like the stainless tube idea.
I need to know if anyone can tell me if all the plumbing for the intake is essential to proper running.
I can’t work out why it’s so elaborate, has two secondary filter box's running off the main housing and a long extension for the main intake all the way across the front to draw from beside the battery.
It looks like a real hassle to try and seal so much plastic pipe work so I'm thinking of modifying the existing filter housing so the snorkel connects direct to it and doing away with all the other rubbish.

Any advice would be great.

wouldn't aluminium be better for a snorkel as it conducts better so would in theory lower your air temperature on intake with the wind passing over as you drive along but then again when you are off road you don't really get much airflow and it wouldn't handle the knocks as well as stainless

hey i just answered my own question

The long intake and extra chambers is mostly to reduce intake noise, if you connect your snorkel to the air filter housing you should be fine

Auto bend makes up the snorkels so all you have to do is cut the hole and put a hat on it.

Remember measure twice cut once, I allways seem to forget this when doing my own stuff
