Air Pumps - What's the Best?

Post by mytronic »

Hi All

Another hot topic for you Guys/Gals to share your knowledge.

My F1 and F2 air pumps have both sucked the kumura after 1 year, all be it after I upgraded my tyres to 33" thus exceeding the recommended air flow.

So ....

What to replace it with :?:
Airconditioning compressor conversion not an option.
Require 12V options only at this stage.

Cheers Mike

I bought a Cyclone Heavy Duty 4wd air compressor in Oz last year for $70(on sale @ haf price). I pump my 33x10.5's up with it no problems takes about 13 minutes to go from 18 to 35 psi on four tyres. Out of interest it came 10 out of 15 in an Aussie 4wd mag compressor test but was rated better value for money. My idea is to crack a beer while pumping up the tyres and enjoy while you wait  .

Would love to :!:
Crack a beer I mean

However our club is very anti booze on any outing

But you may be onto something, we have a night run this weekend so I might pack a dozen for the 11pm finish

Got an address for your model ?

Been looking at Typhoon TYP150 , Ausi Made

But saw this on the net EXTREMEAIRE 12 VOLT PORTABLE COMPRESSOR

I flagged the whole pump idea when I seen a system called "air-up" in an Aussie mag, it's basically a Cylinder, regulator and hose + attachment for blowing up tyres. I think it's about $400  anyway got me thinking and I came up with this; a Fire fighters breathing apparatus cylinder, regulator which was of an old portable air tool set up, hose and tyre pump, all "found" from here and there, the system is brilliant, cylinder hold enough air to refill 12 @35 inch tyres for 0psi :!: no noise whatsoever and faster than any 12V pump, better still I fill the cyl at work.
If you think long and hard a set up made from an old dive reg and cyl will work :P

I have the BA bottle and use a Oxy; regulator from a welding set , that way you can adjust the regulator to what ever tyre pressure you want.
GET AIR, FITZY.
