Sounds like your glow plugs need replacing

Just after purchase I improved the performance of my hilux 2.8 non turbo diesel by simply putting in a new fuel filter.
If you have not changed your fuel filter in a while you might want to do that.

sluggish feel could be from head gasket on it's way out, mine started getting sluggish when under load then a few weeks later head went. try some radiator repar or head repair additives from repco and see if you still have the same prob after a few hundred kms, if it gets better then start saving for a replacement :( I think white smoke is a sign too. keep us posted, cheers

just purchased the surf off a guy and he said the radiator was brandnew only done 20,000kms i will try some new glowies and fuel filter and some adatives..hope its not going to be the head as its my only car that runs for my family lol its got a pod filter on it and the airflow meter is loose just put into a hole in the inlet .... would that have a affect on being sluggish ?

Airflow meter?????? Either its petrol or it doesnt have an AFM. Mine dont that when the catch can (not factory) was full. Ide be checking the oil as the turbo may be pumping it out into the intake. If it is done let it run on its own oil or shell get away on you.

small little black thing in a cone shape may possibly be an air temp sender, can leave them dangling in engine bay if its wha ti think it is
