Moving offroad

Post by punkoutnz »

I've done the car thing to death now, having had projects from a V7 WRX STi to a NA MX5 with a turbo bolted on the side, decided that it's time for something new.
My mate Keith has a nice terrano and I've always liked the things (used to kick one around a mate's farm as a kid) so decided that was the route to take, even just for nostalgia's sake. Being my first diesel I've had to spin my head around 180 degrees to get used to how these things work but we're getting there!

Mine's the red one, while Keith is kicking the blues.

With the help of you guys I've thus far managed to sort the low boost issue and it's running a lot better. Also replaced all the factory blown to bits speakers with some nice pioneer jobbies and fitted some Narva 150 spot lights on the front nudge bar. Also replaced the horrid factory tri-spokes with some Bradley's rims that I picked up off trademe. The tyres are A/T nasty chinese branded sunnys but they will do the job for now.

Future plans are for an intercooler of some sort (most likely water to air), to completely ditch the EGR and fit an EGT gauge while I'm there, a snorkel and see where I'm at from there.
I'm based in Albany (though I've been a coastie my whole life) so will probably try to turn up to some Rodney pub meets. I don't want to go full offroad spec at this stage, but the occasional light play day and camping trip is definitely on the cards.

Welcome fellow T-Phile. They're an interesting truck, like a simple minded (not retarded) bastard child of a Patrol and Navara.
TOYOTA - The Official Vehicle of ISIS!
And makers of the '92 Camry, where you got your first backseat handjob.
