K N Filter Horse power increase

Post by danielharris »

i have a 2005 Diesel Courier. Im wanting a power increase because towing is abit of a bitch with it. and we all want more power right???
Whats the advantages of chucking in a new filter like a K N , will this give me the added power that i want or is it a waste of time?
Any other cheap ideas on how to gain a little extra power?
And where to get the parts.
Thanks

the k&n things been done a few times before on here,

put less restriction on the intake and let it breath easier and you'll get a few extra hp out of it probably enough to just notice the difference but letting air in easier with less restriction means less filtration and more shit getting into the engine causing faster wear and reducing its life

The k&n will only work if the orginal airfilet is a restriction. Modern engines this is hardly ever the case. A clean airfilter will work just fine. The advantge of a k&n is it can be cleaned while a stock one has to be replaced

Best way is the throw a bigger exhaust on it & maybe a less restrictive muffler.
KN filter may give a very small power increase but will come at cost of sucking in dirty air & eventually stuffing ya motor.

Like others have said, pod style filters are shit ,dyno tests have proven that they don't gain any notcible power( in some cases the cheaper ones made less power) and at the cost of letting more dirt in!
