lj78 a few questions about lifting and clutch issues

i have recently aquired a 1990 lj78 2lte.
i had to replace the clutch as it was poked since done that, now the clutch seems to loose pressure and the vehicle starts creeping or you can get it out of gear if you have had you foot on the pedal for any period of time.
the pedal also stays stuck down when this happens
cant find any leaks in the system doesnt seem to be using any fluid either?
wee bit of a concern.
also looking at lifting it. ive heard 80 series springs in the back works well but what about the front? what do i need there? i can remember reading a post on here about doing the rears but i can seem to find it and i dont remember what was done with the fronts.

Hey there mate,
In regards to your clutch, the slave cylinder is most likely rooted, had this with my double cab hilux, had to pump the clutch to build up pressure.
Replaced mine for about $50 and it never gave me hassle after that.

awsome cheers i'll start there, theres no visible leaks so would it possibly be bypassing the internal seals and bleed back into itself?

I just remember getting my mate to push the clutch and cracking the bleed nipple underneath, then tighten it up and get him to hit the clutch again, it would have good pressure but then next push of the pedal it'd do the same again.
I remember sitting in chch at an intersection pumping the shit out of the clutch to get the bastard into gear and as soon as I replaced the slave I never had any trouble again.

most likely be this. My safari was doing the exact same thing with its brakes. Found it was the very end seal that was rooted.
Easy way to check. push on pedal while looking at master cylinder resivuor(?). If leaking internally the fluid level will rise ever so slightly

Yes I have just done that in my KZJ78...
The front are custom coils to match the rears new height...
Bit of an experiment at the moment....
The rears a soft now... great off road but a bit wobbly on road.. Better shocks may help that....
Not sure if there are any other coils that fit the front.....
Haven't looked yet.. possibly the newer 70 series tray backs but haven't seen any close enough

the new 70 series might fit i'll run a tape measure over one of the ones at work if i can get into the work shop when we have one out for what ever reason.

Got some 80 series springs with a coil cut off them if you want them? just lying around the garage.

cheers i've allready got a set of 80 series springs sitting here just need to get shocks and something to sort the front end out

Did you figure out if the larger duty landcruiser like 78/79s with leafs in the rear have the same size coils in the front?
