Importing Container of Big tyres from USA!

Post by MNC »

Hi All,

I`m keen on getting a set of 38.5*15*15" Boggers from USA. Shipping is the main cost and thought maybe someone here has some shipping contacts? or would be keen to go in on a container???

I could probabily sort out a good exchange rate for us (thats my area) but need someone to sort shipping and others who would be keen to fill a container.

Post away!

I'll be needing to have something on the LR in the next two months. What sort of cost per tyre would they be if a container was brought over you think?

I take it this is the tyre your talking about ?

If I recall correctly from memory, Supralux explored importing a container of big rubber from abroad - Kiwis experience a double jeopardy with tyre importation (duty + GST), however if sufficient interest to share shipping it still works out cheaper.

Potentially interested in a set of Bogger B-110 38.5x11.00-16LT myself.

OK, I`ll ask Steve to post a comment on this forum to update us with the costing for shipping or however far he got.

NZ dollar is still pretty strong against the USD but predicted to drop in the future so now is as good a time as any to pick em up.

I`ve got some 33x14x15" Boggers at the moment (about half worn) and they are an awesome tyre. Went further than my mate who is running 35x10.5 Simex's

Yeah, they are fine in NZ. I wouldn`t recommend them if you use the truck as a daily driver though (unless you have a road set and an offroad set).

They are real agresive and very noisy on road.

I gave this guy a call who sells Boggers "Bruce Hughes autos, Winton. Southland." He said there is a NZ Distributor but he wont bring in any more unless he gets an order for a full container.

If there is sufficent interest I`ll call em again and put in one bulk order for all the ORE guys - we should get them for a decent price that way.

OK, I've asked a Tyre importer on Trademe for a idea on numbers required and a price. Question asked:

"How many sets of Boggers would I have to order to fill a container? Have pleanty of guys keen on putting in an order but was hoping you could give me an idea on the numbers required and likley price. So far guys are keen on: 10 x 38.5x15x15 (Boggers), & 10 x 38.5x11x15 (Boggers), plus 5 x 38x12.5x15 (Swamper TSLs). Let me know if you can do a good price and how many more tyres we would need to order. Thanks."

And here is the link for when he answers:

doesnt seem like the trademe guy is very keen,

Seller Comment:
Hi Guys, seems to be some confusion over the supply of Super Swampers, I have one set of "boggers" for sale as discribed above. The original importer has a few odds and sods left but no sets. When a new supplier steps up (there is talk of one) I will let you no. I have no interest in importing myself as it is a very limited market.

4x4boy knows a guy who works for mersk shipping who might be able to organise a container, you would need someone to fill it with tyres though.

OK, I`m having another go with that guy. Have asked below question:

"Hi, could you get me the suppliers details please? I reckon we should be able to place an order to fill a whole container so he may be interested in talking to me. Cheers O294O9O35O."

If 4x4boy can sort out a container for us then I can organise the rest easy - just a matter of everyone confirming what size they what (can do later once we know prices) pay for em and I`ll order from Ebay.

OK, I had a talk to Rob today. He isn`t importing the swampers anymore unless we could get an order for 300 tyres  .

I might have found another guy though. He has quoted me $582 per tyre for some 38.5x15x15 Boggers.

I`ll ask him to get quotes for the below guys but let me know if anyone else is interested asap.

Who Tyre Size Quantity

MNC Boggers 38.5x15x15 5
Leithfield Boggers 38.5x11x16 5?
De-Ranged Boggers 38.5x11x16 5?
Ruf_Zuki TSL 38.5x12.5x15 5
Padero Boggers 37x13x15 5?
TOTAL 25 tyres
