my 97 tj has a hole in the exhaust. (well its the actualy the cataltic converter) , but finaly i get the chance to modifiy the exhaust.

I was wondering if anybody has modified theirs or removed it.
I would like to take this chance to make it breath a little easier and want to change its tone without getting to noisey.

Can you please share your ideas and what you have done to yours.

I cut out the cat and muffler on my last tj and the zj and put 2 cobys in their place. The TJ I didn't bother with replacing the O2 sensor with no adverse effect. The zj needed the O2 sensors popped back in. Nice throaty drone when cruising and fair screams when the throat is opened.

Get a price to do it, get it done, but tell em ya want the cat after its cut out, got 60.00 scrap for my last one.

while washing it last weekend I found a piece of rod on top of the transfer case cover tray .I thought it was something i had picked up out of a mud hole. but alas, it is a arm that goes from the muffler to the side of the transfer case to support it.(made a hole in the muffler where it fell off)

Its pretty hard to justify a new exhaugst to her indoors when i can weld the arm back on.
hmmmmm , should i tell her?

yes I suppose I shouldnt confuse her with a lot off technical issues and leave her to deal with the important things.like which shoes to buy.

I better get it done before she goes shopping.

on a different note .My starter has been playing up.it hasnt been engageing properly . I had planned to pull it out and regrease the gear this morning .
so while having my morning coffee I went thru the jeep forum and found a link to a very helpfull page on how to remove and clean it.
I have just pulled out my starter motor, cleaned and replaced it .A piece of cake.
This is a great site to get info on things and get opinions from others who have done it before.
best i go to thier page now and thank them

Thanks for all the support.
I managed to drive it home (after some awesome recovery efforts from the manukau and thames valley clubs). Thanks very much guys and gals ,your help was overwelming.
My baby is now in the hands of the panelbeaters .
I went to the shed tonight and could see the other side. (sob sob)
Hopefully all going well ,she will pull thru and live to see many more outings and bring the family so much more fun and joy , just like she has done for many years.
Oh , by the way. I think the wife will pull thru , but shes making the most outa a sprained wrist.
Did I mention I got a sprained neck and a sore head . three bloody days off and she got friggen 10.
