Hi guys

I have bought these springs off trademe as a pair but as you can see they are differnt. 1 spring has 9 coils and 1 has 10 coils. Have I been fleeced or is this how they come. They are ment to be factory springs from a a31/c33. I plan on using them to lift the rear of my vitara.
Thanks in advance!

They are both for the rear of a A31 R32 C33 however the factory ones are 8 coils the other is an aftermarket one which is 7 coils and will be a lower compression rate and will sit lower. don't count the top and bottom as they are only seats and will have no effect on the spring rate

Thanks Crash!

I have just got in contact with the guy who sold them to me and he made a mistake and has the same mis matched pair at his house.
I have the option of going with either pair, 7 or 8 coils.
The factory coils are ment to lift a vitara 2 inch. I planned on cutting off a coil or 2 to get to a 35mm lift. Do you think I should just get the 7 coil pair and fit them as is and hopefully they should give desired lift?

If Im lucky...... :D

It's a little tricky, the 7 coil will have a lower spring rate which will allow more flex, however it may not provide the lift required... I leave that call up to you.

Are the coil diameters the same? That is to say a thicker 'wire' thats coiled up will be a harder rate spring than a thinner one. Maybe put them both in, see which sits best, then go for that option.
Bear in mind if you have to cut spring then you won't get a wof..

Table 9-1-1. Modifications that do not require LVV certification
LVV certification is not required provided that:
replacement springs have not been heated or cut,

ask him if you can take both sets and return a pair back to him once your done trialling them,
can hurt to ask

the rate is ascertained by tempering of the steal regardless of how heavy the gauge is.

that is why the LVVA states "Heated" as it effects the tempering when you take to them with a gas torch.

Thanks for all the replys guys.
I will get both sets and play with them, then return the un used.

As for the lift, I dont want the full 2 inch that standard springs give so Im hoping the lesser rate still gives a slight lift, but beacause it is the same open height, I should be able to run 2" longer shocks and still have the springs captive giving the best of both worlds.

As far as cutting a coil or 2 off, if cut end is filed up and painted and the spring is still captive no WOF inspector will know its not factory.

For the spring rate, I have no idea what the factory Suzuki rate is or either of the new springs, that will be trial and error.

Thanks again for the advise, its all being taken on board. I will post some pics of the results
