no issues with safety as what could happen? it would just still be stuck.
use a short lenght of wood in the handle to help increase leverage
I've removed many a vehicle (including a 3t truck stuck in the back of a rest area in the kangahake gorge

) with truck tie downs, and pulled 4x4s that have slipped one wheel off a bank back to safety as well.
just have to use a bit of common sense, thats all

The extension handles are normally for the chain tie downs on truck
Using strops should work fine, 2 would be better to hold while you reposition
