terrano 2 gearbox ques

Hi did the older terrano 2 the one with the round headlights and factory intercooler run the same crappy manual gearbox as the older d21 terrano's?

If by Terrano II you mean the JDM Mistral, then no, it used the FS5R30A
transmission which is the younger brother to the Y60 Safari's FS5R50A.
FS5R30A was also used in WD21 V6 Pathfinder (cast bellhousing)
I think the crappy gearbox you are referring to is the FS5W71C 4-cyl box. It is lighter duty in design and construction but goes just fine.
Both the FS5W71C and FS5R30A were plagued by oil starvation problems simply because the filler plug was positioned too low. Look up factory TSBs.

Right right, it was designed by Nissan europe. So yep, you have the bigger one as wax says.
Us WD21 owners would love access to those boxes

I have seen them going for 250. but normally about 500

Might have to check out sea freight rates. What do they weigh?
