Post by DaveM »

Can anyone give advice/tips on stripping my starter motor (TD42).

Would like to have a go myself as it has siezed after the weekends trip, so hopefully just needs a strip down.

Cheers,
Dave

Get a Haines manual Dave best thing I ever did. Failing that, start at the most logical place, place the parts you pull off in the order they come off so that you can go reverse to get it all back together. Works for me.

Loaned my manual out, and haven't seen it since

Took the starter apart and gave it a clean, which got it going, but the solenoid is playing up.
Its covered by my mechanical warranty, but the company want to put a 2nd hand starter in. Might just pay the extra for a new solenoid and keep the the old one as a spare.
