XJ Guard Cut / flares on a tightish budget

Ok need advise im going to 32x12.5x15s on an 95 XJ, no going back now just going to do it and make it work. My regret, could have been a lots easier going to 31s but after having to be dragged on my diffs so many times of late with my current 30x9.5x15, i wanted to go bigger....seems to be common story on here

So far have about 3" lift happening all works good

First issue with 32s not enough back spacing on standard rims test show they are real tight on rear so will need some rims ....see other post (WTB). So will have some nicely painted black factory rims for sale soon now!

Back spacing on XJs, there seems to be lots of ideas on forums just want to make the right descison, Warren at 4wdbits very helpful today but want to get more input if i can.

Any advice or pictures about guard cutting would be most appreciated.

Want it to look good and be functional but cant afford to spend dollars on new bushwacker guards......well not if tyres and now rims are needed its gonna come close to divorce! Not sure on raising the XJ factory flares unless someone can show me it done well.

Like to check out anyone else in aucklands XJ that might have gone before me and fitted TJ guards or rubber flares if your keen for a newbie to have a look see

Thanks for info so far and considering all options if anyone has a XJ in auckland that has chopped guards would be great to see it for further advice.

This is probably a handy guide since you're on a budget. Reusing your stock flares may be your better option.

Jeep been parked up for a while as have other jobs on so have started back on this and will see how it turns out, did like the TJ flare fitments I have seen driving around here in Auckland and on links so that is a good option also.

yep ta Yeti understand the joining skins issue and will be careful to avoid cutting open the rear in the process!
