R15# into LN106

I am after some solid info on putting a surf R series box into my LN106. I have searched but there seems to be a lot of mixed info around. Here is what I need to know.
1. Do I need to modify the driveshafts? Will the surf rear one fit?
2. If I adapt the existing gear driven xfer case onto the new box will I still need to modify the driveshaft?
3. Do I need to change the crossmember?
4. How much better is the gear driven tranfer? Is it worth the expense of the adapter to fit?
5. How does the R series compare to G series ratios wise?
Thanks in advance, these answers will save considerable time rolling around in the mud under the parts truck!
