how hard is it to fit on of those top mount water to air intercoolers? and how much does it cost? how much power gain do you get? and does it stop the cracking head issue with the 2LTE? all these questions have probably been asked before but i couldnt find much
Go to an exhaust shop and have the pipe work bent up. shouldn't cost much. Id suggest water to air is overkill. small gains to be expected. they are only a small diesel motor so your not going to gain 50kw at the wheels....
You'll find it to be an LJ71 not a KZJ71, KZJ model has 1kz engine, not the 2L-TE. Get good cooling, good flowing exhaust and install a EGT/pyro gauge. And then drive accordingly. I have the LWB of the same wagon and have just given my cooling system a good overhaul. http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/Forums/ ... 22&t=35179

sweet as probably not realy worth it then i guess just wanted to get the verdict do normal intercoolers get much power gain??
intercoolers don't give you much gain by themselves. but because they lower the EGT's and shove more air in the motor, you can wind the fuel up a bit more. you have to burn fuel to get power. intercooler will really help stop the head from cracking.
air-air intercooler will perform better than a water/air for on road driving. however w/a outdoes a/a when you going very slow and full noise. tho w/a can have shorter pipes (depending on setup) so lag can be a bit less.
