Hey folks i might have my hands on a cheap navara, had a look over it and from what i can tell its got a good chance of passing a warrent, only thing is that the rego has lapsed.

Theres only rust on the seals on windows, no rust (that i can tell) apart from the tub, which has been dented and boged over soo many times not suprised its not worse than it is.

Other option is of corse getting a rolled navara/terrano and swapping bodies etc.

What year is it?
a pre 1993 inspection is cheaper than post 1993 as they have less checks to do with brakes, seatbelts ect, as a guide I did a surf recently with 6 months rego was $812 it was a post 93 type

Its a 1989, so it may only cost a grand?

theres a bit that needs doing to it, i.e driveshaft, etc but it would be a cheap navara for that still, i think most are around 5k at least.

check for the rust behind front seats and rear seat seat belts mounts, it is a major issue and even mentioned on wof forms etc

Ill have a good look, i may be able to do some work for it rather than paying cash, so getting pretty excited, always wanted a navara.

Do the worry about the tub? its pretty well used, dents and lots of rust, if so can i just take it off for re vin etc?

Ryto had a good look at the cab and cant find any rust in said areas, is there anything else i should be looking at?

also, how does it go with paperwork etc in terms of change of ownership?

I know but its on hold at the moment till i sort out a car.

Theres a fair bit more i want to do to the truck before cert either way, like winch, bullbars etc, which i would rather get through one cert than 5.

Yeah but it's still worth $3500

Still I have room to talk, my POS owes me over $50k, and I could still get 5 grand for it, maybe

Where did you get that figure from?

I paid 3k for the work, and about 2.5k for the parts, got the truck for about 800 bucks worth of overdue rego.

but i didnt start this thread to have a talk about my terrano, or anyone else, i wanted to know the cost of getting a navara re registered.

And this is not another project, this is a vehicle to drive around and use for firewood etc.

Your build thread. Sorry, it says $8000 not $11000. Rule of threes and all that.

if its had any welding or crash repairs done they may ask for an engineers inspection, especially if its of a structual nature.

Check, leaking hoses on steering, all bushes and boots + would be worth getting a brake check done first if you can get it to a Wof station.

it will be going up on a hoist next week so will have a chance to have a look at that stuff aswell.

I know the power steering is losing fluid somewhere, but brakes seem fine, will check them anyway.

Cheers for the help guys, i will start another thread with the progress for anyone else that wants to know the processes. (if i get the navara)
