Deck mounted tanks,legal?

In the process of putting a 1kz into my truck and the old fuel tank hangs to low,I want to mount a fuel cell on the deck.does anyone no if you can legally do this,truck will be going thru cert at some stage.

imho...
if the tank is suitably fastened to the tray and all pipe work suitably protected, then i cant see why it cant be mounted to the tray,
think of it in another context. trucks have there fuel cells fixed to the out side of the chassis, fully exposed to all sorts of hazards and the environment etc with no issues

if keen enough make a over-tray/shelf system that will protect the tank from being squashed or damaged

JDub had his tank on the back of his hilux. Can't remember if it got as far as a cert or not but there is also a hilux on trademe with one on the back too that is 'road legal'.

Not so bad if you're only racing it but you're not going to have much room for gear between that and the tyre on there :shock:

Yea decks not that big going to move tire and make up a mounting bracket so it can be braced across the back of the cage, that will get it off the deck.Trucks not gonna be raced Taz just reliable club truck
