Patrol clutch question
Patrol clutch question
hey guys, ive had problems with the clutch in my 1969 G60, i flushed, bled and adjusted it to factory spec, but it would still cause some issues. if i push the clutch in, i have to wait 6 seconds before shifting to gear or it grinds, and have to double clutch up and down all gears, not just to first (first has no syncro). its binding a little, but its releasing fully. took off inspection cover, and with clutch depressed, the lining still touches the flywheel. i can move it back with my finger, and spin the lining between flywheel and pressure plate. is this normal, or has the lining come free of the plate? its not like any other clutch ive seen to date. and would explain the clutch not slipping , but causing enough friction to keep trans input shaft spinning. opinions welcome!
Re: Patrol clutch question
ok, my initial thoughts were wrong, clutch basics let me down. pressure plate and clutch plate setup is fine, there is excessive wear on the pivot point the slave cylinder pushes on. this is causing it to not disengage enough. fixing with some new and refurbished bits.
