I had a great lesson in securing gear in the back of the truck on the weekend.I thought I had done a good job of it but, when we fell 3/4m head first, then onto the roof, i found a bit of a shock. a screwdriver had come from the somewhere in the back and speared itself into the hindge about 75mm above the passengers head.I thought every thing was all secure in the back.Shit ill be taking another look from now on. Even a camera , or a hand bag could give you a nasty hit on the back of the head.PLEASE take another look in the back of the truck

Sounds like a decent get off ya had. Jebus. Hope all were ok.

I always have small bits and pieces in a bag and bag secured down with bungees/ratchet tie downs or in a plastic box and that ratcheted down. Other bits tied down too. Oober paranoid of things goin walkabout.

Its a good lesson to learn. I hope you are all Ok.
After going to too many MVC call outs and seeing some folks who were pretty banged up from the contents of the car being thrown around (manly head, neck and chest injures)I made a barrier for the Bighorn that went in the back for when we go out and was configurable for different seating options. I am currently working on one for the safari

Don't put it to close to the rearseats, had hard time fitting head rests in there for a cert

Currently the plan (until it changes) is to bring it up the back of the seat till 50mm below the top of the back and then step it 50mm toward the rear of the vehicle before continuing up. This should give enough clearance

300mm clearance is what the rules want ,but your idea is good

Interesting. Cargo barriers are on the list for not needing cert

Ouch as other have said, hope all were ok...
I put in a cargo barrier behind the rear passengers years ago...
Had to make my own as there weren't any that I liked off the shelf...
Didn't fit tight enough and left gaps around the sides.
Its certainly stopped stuff coming thru during big drops and oopsies.
