kzj71 prado tacho help

hi guys ,am trying to hook up all my factory gauges in my prado.have got everything working apart from the tacho.the loom is 93 kzj71.my question is where is the tacho fed from and what colour wire is it .I have 2 lj71 books ,one being the genuine toyota one which is a goldmine but there are wiring differences between the LJ and the KZJ 71.someone out there must have done this with there lexus into lj/kzj transplant .cheers sig

Dont know if this helps but i got told to run tacho off one bank if i wanted to use factory gauge. Ended up just going with an aftermarket gauge. Much simpler.

really keen to use factory one .Have got an electronic interface to go between ls1 comp and tacho just cant find the tacho wire in the loom.Where does a 1KZ te get its tacho signal from ,pump,alternator,or flywheel pickup ? anyone

So you have KZJ71 wiring in the truck?
Which used to have a 1KZTE engine?
The Tacho sensor from the pump goes to the ecu... then gets sent onto the factory Tacho unit.
For the KZJ78 (similar to KZJ71) wiring ex 1KZTE is as per photo.

yea came across a thread from somewhere thats used a diesel tacho and changed a diode or something a rather and made it work.. can't remember for the life of me..

hi kbushnz,my pinout is a little different .my ecu is a manual one and the e6 plug only has 12 pins not the 22 that your one does .have found two black/red wires in that plug thou .one has 1 dot the other has 2 dots.dont suppose where you got that pinout they have one for my ecu .part no is 89661 60230 1KZ-TE M/T cheers sig
