Hey all,
Just took my steering box out to be rebuilt and it looks like the spline has bent about half a tooth. I've heard of these breaking (I think WJW on here had his break) so don't want to take any risks. Anyone know where I could get a replacement straight one or a wreckers with one?
Cheers
Dan

Right have to do a timeline to explain properly.
Thurs morning (anzac day) 1am spotted truck on the side of the road with sign in widow. Stopped and the bloke came out and had a chat. He's owned it 3 months Wanted $8200 bottom dollar with the 35's and a 3" lift, no cert. It has $4100 owing on it and someone offered him $8K and he said no. $200 difference FFS. He's buying a house apprently hence why he's selling it.
Its a NZ new factory 7 seater without diff locks.
Thurs 12pm went back and had another look and took it for a spin.
It went ok.
Brakes were fair to ok but to be expected from being on 35's
Electric windows did not work
Electric mirrors dodgy
A few broken switches and a cracked cluster sheild. the clear bit you look through. To be sort of expected for its age and mileage (486K) I would guess. Not if I owned it though.
Seats were in good cond and the body was very good aside from a bit of clear coat peel and a ding in the left rear between the tail light and the bumper. This was bogged badly with no paint on it. Why the hell people do this I don't know.
Something is up with the auto though. When kicking down it would slip between gears and venture towards the redline before engaging the new gear. Did it kicking down from 3rd or 4th.
Said to him I need to talk to an transmission workshop about it. . Their not open till monday and he was ok with that and we both agreed the first one to turn up with the cash, buys the truck. The missus also needs to have a look as she will be driving it more than I and she has a firm grip on the cheque book. She was away till tues.
Fri - listed on trademe for $6700 with out 35's. WTF?
Sun - listing changed to $0 and hes parting it out. Listing also put up for 35's for $1400 since been sold I think listing closed. Double WTF?
I thought about it but did not have a good feeling about the trans and the fact he seemed desperate for the money and was rushing to sell it.
Later, Phil.

he will be pushing to get $4k tho with the trans being dodgey. mind you a chap like that will pass it off as being mint, and wont be around when you head back looking for him and your cash

Auto has to be taken out, a clutch (probs high speed) is stuffed, can't be repaired in place, recond trans drive in drive out is a minimum of $3.5K.....

Geeze, you go to work for a day and the thread takes off.

Forums are cool things. Yup still looking, I'd be looking to pay up to $250 for one - as long as its not another dud obviously. I've already had a look at another and same issue.
