Safety Lights

Post by Kezza »

Hey Guys,

Im sick of being nearly clobbered working on the side of the road, I do alot of SAR work so am often pulling off the road at night and my truck is not under lit. I have 6 spotlights facing sideways and forwards to light up big areas.

I was looking at getting a set of these, prefer amber but what I was wondering is, When I am pulled off the road, for instance, helping a friend with a tire at night, can I use these as warning lights. Cant seem to find much on the Land Transport website about it

U should be fine if amber. Prob get done if u do red or blue lights. End of day amber is the universal hazard colour and just but any one who parks on road doing work has them.

I think you are allowed to use orange flashing lights.. (service vehicle)
Red and blue are for emergency services only..

stick with a single flashing amber warning lamp.
i've had some close calls with idiots flooding the road with work lights and blinding drivers as they come around the corner.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. Problem is nobody in NZ seems to stock any at a reasonable price. Generally with my lights ill rarely ever use all at once, normally just 1 or 2 on the side im working unless im in a park or something I want to light the whole area

I have some of the above as indicators, they are pretty extreme when both the spot and indicator are on.

They come on the slow boat from china, no guaranteed delivery, so my cables that were due latest yesterday have just been refunded and I'll order some more expensive ones with gauranteed delivery
