more power from a 300tdi landrover discovery

Post by tops »

Hi all,

I've been (finally) doing a little more work on the old girl to get her ready for a big return to the bush! Last weekend I had a tail-light problem and ended up replacing them. The bloke I bought them from suggested I try flushing the intercooler to get some minor power gains. She was also due new fluids etc so on went a new fuel, air and oil filters, flushed the intercooler and fixed the lights. Now she's running noticeably better and it got me thinking, what else can be done on a minimal budget to get some power gains from these motors. I was thinking maybe rebuilding the turbo or tuning up more boost? I'm pretty new to turbo diesels so would love some advice. I've had a look around but couldn't find a thread similar so thought I'd start a new one. Any thoughts?

Thanks all. I promised photos of the old girl so I'll give her a wash (yeah right) and post some....

Cheers,
Tops.

Nice. This looks very useful. It's a bit technical on first read, but I'm sure with slow and steady working I'll give this a go and report back any improvements.

Thanks for the post!

All good info for you there. Install an egt gauge first though.
