Dash Cam footage. Near miss.
Driving my truck and (cover tandem axel) trailer some stupid bitch tried passing me while I was passing what was a stationary vehicle.

Re: Dash Cam footage. Near miss.
Going by the video, the car was passing before you got to the vehicle in front. If she was passing already, it is up to you to stay in your lane

dunno about that.
technically you should have looked first and stopped rather than overtake the car in front.
afaik not illegal to overtake in road works (it certainly is bad driving) but they have to be speeding to do so which is where they get caught.

True.
I couldn't check directly behind me because my trailer is covered and taller than my truck. She came out of no where..

I actually did look in my side mirror before passing the landy but no one was there. As I said. She came out of no where.
This is the trailer I was towing.

Re: Dash Cam footage. Near miss.
She probably couldn't see why you were slowing, but a little more patience on her part would have gone a long way
Re: Dash Cam footage. Near miss.
need wider mirrors
but she was probably tailgating hiding in the blind spot anyway.

mind you if thats a 30km/h aera then she shouldn't be passing a vehicle thats doing double the speed limit !
Re: Dash Cam footage. Near miss.
You're right. I guess I should of looked longer in my side mirrors (or have bigger ones) before getting in her way.. Still gave me the shits.
Was good to see I could make out the number plate with this dash cam (BlackVue) as the last dash cam I had (720p) was so pixilated you didn't have any chance of getting any numbers on a plate.

Hence the reason I said a little more patience on her part....

Also, the travelling speed was 80km/h, before slowing to 60km/h as Pete approached the vehicle, so safe to assume it wasn't a 30km/h area?
Either way, was a close call, but no one hurt/no damage. I'm impressed with the quality of the footage though
Re: Dash Cam footage. Near miss.
Given that the normal speed limit sign has been covered over and there are cones out indicating roadworks, then I tend to think there was a speed restriction in the area at that time.
However that doesn't make it right for anyone of the three vehicles.
The vehicle not pulling completely off the road to stop, the second vehicle for suddenly changing lanes without indicating, (should of slowed/stopped before changing lanes) and the third vehicle for overtaking in a restricted area.

I actually did indicate but maybe not long enough and I was slowing down too.
But you're right, all three of us were playing a part. I just thought trying to pass me at the time was a more stupid move out of the three of us.
In my opinion the BlackVue dash cam is one of the best 1080p on the market today. It might not be the cheapest 1080p dashcam though.
