Hi Guys

I recently bought a 2011 Challenger which has done a little less than 60K. I am really new to diesel cars, actually this Challenger is my first diesel car.

The car was serviced by Andrew Simms Mitsubishi Newmarket 2 days ago and I find it "shakes" quite more noticeably when it is stops (for example waiting for the traffic light) and the shaking makes me really uncomfortable. The car was fine when I picked it up a month ago.

I called Andrew Simms and was told nothing has been done except normal service items such as oil and filter. What could be the issue causing the stronger "shake" and what can I do to reduce it?

is it worse when hot or cold?

Could it not just be the normal vibrations from a diesel?

I think the vibration is pretty much the same when hot and cold.

I understand the diesel car vibrates but I can feel the vibration got stronger after the service. Any idea what could be the issue or if there is anything I can do to reduce the vibration?

what Rpm is it idling at?
If too low it may feel like it is shaking too much
Not sure on your wagon but around 700-800 RPM is normal idle speed

perhaps the egr system has been removed/blocked off (assuming it has one)

The RPM is around 800 when idle.

Thanks I will have it checked.

Take it back to them and get them to have a look. It is still under warranty so if there is any big issue you don't want to be messing with it yourself. The egr system would not have been blocked off, it would cause all sorts of upset to the computer. The 60k service for one of those should be a big one that requires the inlet manifold to be removed and cleaned out, and the tappets checked, did they do this or has it already been done? Maybe it has a tight tappet? This does happen on these.

The EGR system is easy to block of (unofficially) but it wont have been done in the service, I have the same motor as you in my triton. I run a egr blank with no vibration of adverse effects except the occasional check engine light due to the computer noticing 0% egr on low open throttle. I just reset it with my phone and Bluetooth obd2 dongle..

There is a number of things you could check. have a look on www.newtriton.net its an aussie forum. very helpful.

I also sell performance chips for these vehicles (and other DiD) and you wont recognise it as the same truck..
