what size/brand winch would be best suited for a 92 lwb safari with out spending to much and what size tyres could i run with a 50 mm suspension lift

You can get 33's on a 2" lift, but I'd take the factory mud flaps off if you still run them, as they can rub on full travel.
Winch wise, in my opinion I'd go for at least a 9000lb for a LWB, or a pto if you can fit one.

is your truck auto or manual ? is it 24v or 12v? if its a manual have a look for a pto winch, they are pretty good. most safaris are 24v , so if looking for an electric winch you will need a 24v one. 33-12.5x15 tyres work pretty well on safaris with a 50mm lift. i have some new savero mt 33-12.5x15 tyres for sale, travelled 100km max. still have nipples on the tread for $950 or $1150 on new deep dish 15x8 white spoke rims.. pm me if you are interested.

it is a 4.2 petrol manual 12v i am waiting for a price for the 50 mm lift and will probaly wait a bit for the new tyres and rims but if i change my mind i will contact you thanks and is that your truck that i see parked in metzger st

Mudchuka, when you say "if it's manual, go for a PTO..." does that mean that all manual safari gearbox's have PTO shafts? i.e you would only have to find an actual PTO winch and connecting shaft etc?

Or would you need to find a donor truck, and take the PTO setup, including the whole gearbox...

most manual safaris have a plate on the side of the gearbox unbolt it ,and bolt a pto output ,drive shaft and winch. next cut a hole for the lever, do this while sitting in the truck, the lever can be annoying if its too close to your leg
i drilled some holes then wacked it out with a cold chisel. even buy a spare truck take the winch off and re sell the truck..

Cool, so if you wanted to set up a 'dogs bollocks' Hydraulic winch, running off a PTO, then this would be possible on any manual safari, would just need the PTO output shaft and lever, then loads of cash for the hydraulic system....
