Have a look under your truck! Most of the bolts bolt through the floor, front seats need to be removed, carpet needs to be lifted to get to the bolts. There are a couple at the rear that you get from underneath.

take your front seats out and lift your carpet. you will be able to locate where the bolts are by looking for them.

but i found a lot of the bolts had tar/underseal over the top of them. also they had plates in floor covering where the bolts are. its an easy job but it does end up allot more time then ya think. have fun.

theres two closer to the rear that are only bolted underneath, but as stated all the rest you will need to lift carpet to get to.
by the time you get all the seats etc out of the way you wont have much change from 2 hours lol.

Just get a grinder and cut the mounts off.
If you unbolt them you have to seal the holes up after pulling em off.
Mine came off easy,i just let my mates massive wife use them to get in and out of my truck, only once was needed each side, they came off rather well.......im sure i heard my poor truck say "thank feck" when she got out.

you can fail a wof and certfor cutting them off with a grinder, its not expensive nor hard to get panel pins and some windscreen sealent to seal them up.
it is a good time to also check for rust and other problems when you pull the carpet up.

I pulled mine off my old truck years ago. I was thankful as I managed to get myself bogged down a few times when out on Muriwai (around south head). With those things on it would have been a real pain to get around and under the truck and dig. Since then I got another truck and haven't been too bothered about pulling them off as I usually manage to avoid getting bogged down these days. I have been doing yellow pages deliveries for the young fellas fund-raising and we've found those steps/rails bloody good for standing on instead of jumping inside, they can stand on them and hold onto the roof rack. So I guess this time round I've found them handy. Each to their own, mine might stay for the time being but if I find myself cursing them out, off they come. It wasn't that hard a job to get them off and seal up the holes.

would it be possible to drill out the bolts from under truck would this be easyer than pulling seats out and carpet you only have to blow the bolt so you can pull away long steps

Its not hard to pull seats out, you only need to take front seats out, and lift carpet. much easier than drilling holes.
it is only time consuming because some of the trim has to come off.
