Im not planning a trip, but Id like to go out this weekend.

Post by Elmo »

As title says, Im keen on heading out this weekend.

7/8th Oct

I dont really know anywhere to go other than just the local rivers etc, but I want to go do something different. Something a little more challanging.

Some where with some differnet scenery? Foresty? Rocks and cliffs?

I dont know, just prefer not a river bed at the mo.

Any ideas?

Anyone wanna take the lead?

I havent been told I need to work Sat yet, so Im guessing Sat would be the better day.

Sounds like you be going up mount greenland on the westcoast then  heard the track goes further in after the top.

Elmo, I might have something in mind up in the Hurinui area for Sat or Sun, just need to check with her indoors. It is a trip I have done in the past, very scenic and hilly, and am wanting to do as a future trip for my workplace social club. This will be a reccy trip to refresh my memory although I do have it on my GPS maps from the past trip.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

Mike, Im actually heading to the coast in a few weeks, but in a company vehicle to work for the week, part of my contract is to work in stockton mine for a week every month. Im sure I'll be doing plenty of 4x4ing while Im up the hill, but I doubt it will be by choice! hahaha

Pete, yup, count me in, Im a goer for that, either day.

It goes right over and out to the main road. Its SERIOUSE, even the hard nuts guys in the Buller club weren't keen after walking part of it, and i think Scotty (green coily Rugger)from the Nelson club and another guy attempted it a couple of years back.

If your anything like me though, you gotta see it for yourself first ;)

Ok, the reccy is on for Saturday (tomorrow), i'm planning to go from Culverden to Chevoit over the hills using named paper and shingle roads.
Starting at Culverden and travelling on St Leonards Rd, Kaiwara Rd, Eggleston Rd, Leamington Rd and Munro Rd to Chevoit.
Not planning on a fast trip as I might have a coupla sight seeres. There is also a Limestone Glen that might be worth a visit too.

Unsure of departure time or meeting place, what suits you?

Sounds good to me, if you have other people with you, you name the time. Probably easier to meet closer to town than farther away, thats if you are leaving from Chch.

Im pretty flexible.

Awesome trip, weather was fantastic. Got back before cluds came in.

http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/modules ... php&page=2

4 pics there, 2 on page 2, and the rest on page 3. Nothing special.

Watch for some video footage soon though, I tried something different! hehehe

Thanks Pete. I would never have known that there was access to that area if it wasnt for you.

No worries at all mate. It was a nice change from rivers.

I have something in mind for next time in a similar area that will include a fishing spot or two, so the driving will be a tad shorter. Surf and freshwater fishing so we're bound to catch something. :?

I will post my pics soon.

dieselboys a bit out of date, some members of the buller club have been down the other side of mt greenland. you can get down just past the old miners hut. the track does not go right thru but that might not stop a group with big balls from trying. could be the ultimate challenge

Left hand wind mirror. Did some vids with it facing ahead, and a short one facing at wheel.

They have come out remarkibly well.

No sound at this stage as I had no mic. But will set that up, definitly.

Should have a 3-4 min vid up in about 30 mins

hahaha fair enough, we used the radios ALL day long!

Was actually suprized at how much cell coverage we had, untill mine hemeraged while infront of the repeater ariel, and I turned it off, but then forgot my pin number, so it locked up, and didnt work anymore till I got home :-(

Im working away with 3 screens infront of me. It looks like it will be about 10 meg, so not a biggie!

Soon, VERY soon!

Sorry about the delay, had trouble uploading it.

It seemed to upload to the photo album, but it just seemed to hang at the end, so uploaded it to youtube instead.

Heres the link to the thread where I posted it.
