Hello all
Sorry this is my first post, but I'm looking for a used Defender 110 twin cab diesel if possible but will consider anything. Based in Wanaka this will be the family car! $10k or there abouts?!
Could anyone please advise on good places to look rather than Trademe and Autotrader?
Thanks

a twin cab diesel 110 will be as rare as hens teeth and the chances of anyone that owns one selling it will be even lower

Sorry but 10k wont buy much of a 110, try 25+
Re: Wanted 'Defender 110'
Noticed quite a tidy one in Temuka Auto Court a week or two ago. Price was just under $30k from memory. Had winch and tonneau cover. Their number is 03 615 8786.
Re: Wanted 'Defender 110'
There was one for sale very recently in Queenstown. Not sure if it is still available.

The double cab pick-ups were only aftermarket conversions until the late 1990's when Land Rover decided to do the 110 D/C pick up. Before that only the 130's were d/c.
That means you are generally looking at an early vehicle converted or a later vehicle, especially if it must be diesel.
There is an early vehicle on TM but it has been converted, has a few extra's and price is $25K.
D/C's didn't sell in big numbers, especially in NZ as the tray ended up been too small to be practicable.
Unless you can increase (double) your budget you will need to buy and an older vehicle and then convert to d/c yourself.
Of course most older vehicles in the mid to late 1980's were petrol and it was only in 1990 that LR went to diesel as the main engine choice so for your $10k budget and specific engine body style you are very limited as to what's on the market within NZ.
as to places to look apart from you suggested places, auction sites, newspapers, machinery sales but remember there are only a few out there so you won't see them daily, weekly or even monthly come up for sale, especially within your specs.
If you went for a station wagon then the situation changes as they are more plentiful but still getting good prices for ones in very good condition.

The 127s, you mean

TOYOTA - The Official Vehicle of ISIS!
And makers of the '92 Camry, where you got your first backseat handjob.

Re: Wanted 'Defender 110'
Hi there
thanks for the info, I'm obviously quite new to the market especially the NZ landrover market. I've had early Porsche's for years in the UK, not really the same kind of beast!
I'm looking for a Landy for this coming winter, I'm based in Wanaka. Ideally the twin cab would be the dream and yes I meant the 130. I'm however happy to look at anything just so long as its reliable and good enough for family use, getting up the hill etc.
There seems to be a big gap in the market for good landy's around the 10-15k range.
Is there a reliable price guide for NZ?
cheers

When I looked at landies a few years back it was cheaper to buy in the UK, Ship and go through compiance etc than buy here....

$10-12k should get you a solid pre-Defender coil sprung Land Rover One-Ten. Some people try to sell these as Defenders, which they should be hung for, because they are very different mechanically and Defender should command much more $$. Defenders got the modern, reliable 200/300 Tdi engine range and robust R380 gearbox.
$5-6k - a good condition De-commissioned army Stage One V8 with a fire breathing 91hp V8. Reliable, heavy duty drivetrain, big tits LT95 gearbox, biggest CV joints they ever made. Leaf springs.

Hi if you get the 5 dr wagon and want to convert its not a big job .the guy in h town has a mould for the roof .then its a back window off a truck cab and the rear wall then it drill old riverts and spotwelds out .dont buy a 130 i did they are just a wee bit long off road and a drama for your wife to park.buy a. Roof rack .that would make up for the loss of tray size the 110 has.there is a movie by guy ritchie called layer cake and there is a black one that has exo with roof rack looks mean.
