Starter Motor

Post by Kent »

The starter motor on my 1988 Nissan Safari is jamming on

It has that whirring sound. So it just keeps going. If you turn the car off it keeps going till you disconnect the battery terminal.

(This is what happens when you lend your car to your mum for a day.)

So i was just wondering if people have any idea what the problem could be and how I could fix it.

Just whirring but not engaging?

I would say the soleniod is stuck engaged . All else fails give it a good wack , maybe check the wires are not shorted by the soleniod or something across the terminals.

Cheers

Thanks guys

It could just be a dodgy solenoid sort of thing, because I have been having some trouble with the solenoid connections.

I'll have a look at it tonight when I get home
