FJ40 Rear door

Does anybody know what they call this type of rear door
I've looked on the net a lot and i cant find any other cruiser with the same rear door as mine..... Maybe i haven't looked hard enough

To me that looks like it s a custom build. Made out of tailgate, lift up combo that was fitted on the earlier models. That door handle doesn't look remotely familiar to any Toyota model of the 70's era.

Reminds me of the Morris Marina door handles, apparently wheeled out again on the original Range Rover...

My old 40 was a 1980 and it had the ambulance / barn door set up.

Hmmmmm oddd

Wish i knew this before ive cut out all the rust and and probably lost all the original mounts
I thought the hinges were very odd!
Guess I'm going to have to stick with what I've got now

That's definately a custom setup.

Personally I think the best setup for the back of a 40 is a fold down (ute style) tailgate, with fold up hatch.

Unless you have seats in the back in which case the ambo doors are the ticket.

Ill post up a pic of the door by its self next time I'm out in the shed
It looks factory by the looks of the bracing unless someone has gone to a lot of effort to make the door
