no point putting pretty plastic/glasstin flares on then worrying that you're gonna scratch it??

terrari looks badass. good work.

Today I picked up a landrover off a mate. Holy shit why did I wait so long to get one. so lol.
Just need to finish cobbling together a throttle linkage to cable adaptation to make everything work again so I can take it for a burn and see what else is fooked.
Will do some pics tomorrow

that was exactly why i used these ones, just bend out of the way, and meh, if they get ripped off somehow  only cost 30 bucks.

Wouldnt mind a lanrover myself, but more of a fan of the old rangies

was, but weathers too cold for fiberglassing down here so they will have to wait till warmer weather, or untill i can get heating in the garage. got a job now so will be able to save up, but needed a car quick.

What exactly are they made out of man? I'm using cut outs from a 200l blue drum but they dont do a verry well at the bending out of he way bit... Work well as steps tho ;)

polythene i think, maybe polypropalene, cant remember.

3mm thick plastic anyway, same stuff they make mudflaps etc for 4wheelers and extend guards for tractors etc.

I get them from pvc products in gore, there maybe something similar around the country.

went for a rockcrawl in my new fawdy... pity the photo doesnt show the true menacing terrain as it almost looks carpet'esque, and the rock barely shows its true ferocious tendencies when it nearly ripped off my flares..

still, flex was great..

Finally got some time to work on the safari...

Pulled out the seats and the electronics and went to town with the water blaster   cleaned it inside and out, under datsunsafari's supervision

Spent today cleaning the driveway up   then dragged the safaris sorry arse into the barn and pulled out the gearbox with lincooln...

Now to flick the terrano and find a replacement gearbox then I can fit my new pto  ...

Had a busy weekend removing my flares and mudflaps, hoping the wheels would clear better. Then gave it the flex test.

Image

I also took the bonnet off but that didn't make bugger all difference to the flex.

Shot down to tuatapere thursday after nightshift, walked the Humpridge - South Coast track. Came out today absolutely knackered, probably the hardest most rewarding thing Ive done. Didnt take the rifle and seen 3 deer. :D Sat on 100km all the way there and home to check mileage.... Still shit

Was cool to walk the viaducts...

Went into Rallywoods with the Featherston 4x4 club, was good to get out and give the lux its first real taste of off roading and get a feel for what it can achieve. Phil blew the front diff in his 3.0 Surf and went home early, Ditch soon popped a front tyre off its rim, then it was up to the Prados and my surf to tow the landies around and out  ...actually to be fair Rods winch came out a bit, not only for himself. Was a good chance to see some of the other hazards that were used in the winch challenge the previous weekend. No breakages and mud inside and outside the truck :D
Enjoyed the day immensely with a great bunch of *(&^*#$^ ...nice guys

Dont know to be honest, but the back was pretty close so im guessing its not far off.

shock and springs are the initing factor at the moment, not designed for such a light load

ill get it up on the ramp at work, or on a forklift to find out, then ill unbolt shocks to see what length i need.

Shut the knockers up, flex it up with the shocks in the front unbolted :P
Or it could prove them right and we'll flame ya

If that is the full whack available it would be a pretty shitty thing to flame him. I mean he has taken a $2500 wagon, spent over $6000 ish on it, and now it's (at best) the same as he started with except it won't handle as nice on the road which is where it will have to stay because the flex issue will inhibit any usefulness it may have had off road.
Get those shocks off young fella and flex it up properly and hope like hell it works out.
(ps, quick heads up, if it doesn't work, best you don't let us know  )
