Had this old toy land in my lap... figured I'd get it running so I've got a hack to get dragged round in

Always had a soft spot for them.... there is something about the no frills feel of a truck that was built to be offroad
Has been a long time since I play'd with one of these and this one is rough

the doors are suffering from rust passngers side glass section is held on with a couple of rivited on plates as the bolt mounts have rusted out, hinges on both doors are rusting out... leaking oil everywhere, yea I know thats how you know they are full

but this is a bit more than that

, Hand brake has no drum, bull bar's are buckled and the motor has a blown frost plug behind the fuel pump

oh and the wiring

yea hmmmm
On the plus side motor runs and is an LD28 (if you call a desiel a plus side

)
Plans are.... cheap

got to pay my tax bill, so I'm not going to spend any money on it
Start with some new second hand seats from a mates skyline so my ass is sort of anchored... I can have em for free since he's a good mate and they are moldy

bend the bumper out and reinforce it and mount some recovery points front and rear
I'll fix the motor and run it for a bit...
but I'm owed a commy (another favor

) got a couple of RR gearbox's that no one wants that are pretty easy to divorce... a bit of work and it'll fit behind the commy trans
Also got a rear axle from an old RR that I competition prep'd that no body wants and a ARB for it that I was sitting on...
This gives me some power and a good rear end
Looking at it I could push the rear back 5" link the rear cut the leaves and mount em 1/4 elliptical throw some fiddles on
This still leaves the front end they used to brake but I can't remember how the broke
Any suggestions ??

Best bit of it (and the most expensive part too I'd wager).

A wee update
Cleaned up Chris's work and patched the rust

Keeping with the $0 cost here the steel I used for the patch

Now chris has to put it back together....

The floor was rusted out where the mud was sitting on a outrigger brace... so pulled the guard off so I could remove the brace... also gives me a chance to hammer out the fender

That old rangie bonnet is going to get a caining fixing this lot....

Almost sorted the rust and all the mounting holes in the bulkhead (mounting holes are easy as, a brass block held on the other side and weld up the hole

)

Just got the bottom end on the out rigger to sort, the rust is bad enough I'll have to cut the bottom out and and rebuild the inner support and the outer skin
Just got to make the brace to hold the bulkhead while I do it.....
Hey anyone got a spare hinge mounting bolt and the spring clip/nut... the lowest one was rusted solid and had to be drilled out

Had an interesting day got to look at a series 2 110 with a blown motor that could make a good camper tow wagon.... keep telling myself I need to get rid of stuff not get more
Through the haz of painkillers I managed to work out how to sort things.... got a choice at the moment I'm functional on the blastard pills but the brain don't want to hold things or I'm not able to do anything.... hope the doc's going to have an answer
Right heres what I came up with well part of it going to have to join some more pipe (using up the pipe from the front bumper

)

Hopefully more to come tomorrow.... well depending on how sore I am after the MRI and the drive to and from hastings

MRI won't hurt ya, it will just get in your head, they make a hell racket.
Take the tramadol with a mouth full of fizzy (coke) (it seems to get it working faster

)

The MRI dosn't concern me this time my back has decided to not like being bent

depending on what the seat is like it can be as little as a few min's before the pain burns through the pain killers
It's that bad I've made one very painfull decision, I'm selling up the business, that means there is going to be alot of stuff up for sale including the lada
Oh and you want no pain have tramadol with a woody... got a big telling off by a pain specialist last night for that one

Got a bit done on the old girl this afternoon
Braced up the top of the bulkhead brace

and managed to get the rest of the guard bar stitched together... made by joining the bits from the bumper

still got to sort the end down at the chassis and mount the fender onto it
Got given some used 32nom was a neighboring business's sign frame... unfortunatly he went under and didn't want it so gave it to me, might even be enough to do me a wee exo

Todays efforts
Finished the front mount for the bar, had to add a few speed holes to go with the performance engineering from land rover

With it done I had to test it to see how much it'll flex.... didn't move at all with the wheel off the ground

With that done I sorted the guard.... a simple job, but I managed to stuff up part of it

head doesn't seem to be firing right... I'm blaming the painkillers

at the end of the day its not bad enough I'll worry, its a landy
