gday, have been reading some articles about water+methanol injection inter carby engines, to help with cooling, eficency and performance
ive heard the both sides of the story and have researched abit, but I was just wondering if anyone in the offroad scene has tried it? particuly with a 350 chev...
and injection needle sizes
any input would be appreciated cheers
Dan

The methanol will help you, but in a naturally aspirated engine, especially a carbed engine, I don't know how much help you will get. Turbos make heat, so the WMI helps to reduce temps. In fuel injected engines, the meth can reduce heat before getting to the combustion chamber. With a carb, the air and fuel make the trip together, so it won't have the advantage. It will still keep things clean, and could help bump your power a bit.

its been done on aero engines since the birth of time,
one you need a nozzle that will correctly atomise the fluid so it doesn't reform into a droplet in the inlet tracts,
two you need a pump that can withstand what you're pumping without getting eaten or rusting.
with aero engines it was used as fuel displacement so that the aircraft could run a leaner mix with out getting hot (less fuel/more range), in your application you could set the carb at a safe but leaner side of the mixture then add the spray an air fuel gauge from jaycar or the like would likely be a helpful tuning tool

yea good thinking might give it a try next week on my Subaru ace as a guinea pig before applying to my 350
