Force4 Rotorua Winch challenge 7-8/9/2013. Its on!
Hi there Boys and girls,
I am happy to announce that the Geyserland 4wd club is thinking seriously about resurrecting the Mamaku forest winch challenge.
They are looking at holding it early in September but nothing has been set in stone as yet.
We are wanting to know who would be keen/brave enough to to come play in the freezing cold, damn near bottomless, truck/crew testing bog holes of the good old Mamaku forest.
It is going to be run as a very no frills event with extreme bragging rights up for grabs.
Please show your interest as competitors and marshals. So we can make it happen..

Re: Rotorua Winch challenge 2013
Costa plenty run their event on the first weekend in september and hawkes bay have their biannual gwavas event on the third weekend in september.
Apart from that I reckon I could almost be persuaded to come marshall

Would be keen as, have been hanging out for Rotoruas next event.
Why not Tect park again? Is it due to costs getting in?

Comp rig: Suzuki Vitara, L67 Supercharged V6 Commie and auto, Prado chassis and diffs. Gigglepin 8274 twin motor rear mounted winch, air free spools, 35" Silverstones, ect
Re: Rotorua Winch challenge 2013
Cheers for the heads up guys, I will let the boys know of all the conflict dates.
As for the tect park, It was an awesome venue but sadly they are just not interested in having us back due to reasons that have not been clearly explained. So back to wonderful Mamaku it is..... So start bribing lady luck so she is on your side

Re: Rotorua Winch challenge 2013
There would be a bit of interest (well I reckon there would be) if it was a team event similar to kiwi/costa/gwavas aimed at club level trucks
70 series prado (KZJ78) and 90 Series Prado (KZJ95)
Re: Rotorua Winch challenge 2013
Do it, we will be there
Re: Rotorua Winch challenge 2013
Why not run it later in the year for the NZ1 winch challenge??

all our rounds are the first weekend of the month and the last one being in October so after this would be the most ideal to get SI trucks up, Dont know how this fits with your schedual.

Re: Rotorua Winch challenge 2013
Is all the old tracks up Mamaku still surrounded by pines? Or have they all been cleared now?
Think it would be a great idea to try run it to bring up some of the SI guys up. Maybe November might be the time to run it. Gives people time to repair there trucks from Taupo.

keen as but comitted to first couple weeks of sept down south playing in the snow

If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!
Re: Rotorua Winch challenge 2013
Yeap, we would definitely be there as competitors. Let us know once you have a bit more of a plan, may be able to help with some marshalls, or setting up etc if need be. Anything that would help make it happen. Cheers, Raymond

Re: Rotorua Winch challenge 2013
Any ideas on dates for the Rotorua winch challenge?
Re: Rotorua Winch challenge 2013
Hello.
Current thinking is for a September event.
We may have permission to run as late as November but could run into an early fire season risk. Plus it would be warm and that wouldn't be Mamaku at all.
We'll avoid Taupo 1000 weekend but not expecting a major cross over of competitors
Early days yet.
Cheers

Re: Rotorua Winch challenge 2013
You are never going to please everyone with the date, so just pick one ,then every competitor can decide if the want to can their plans to enter.
Also gives more time for the out off towers to plan.
I for one will enter, even if I miss something else.
Cheers

Okay - the dates are 7 and 8 September subject to land clearances being obtained. We will look to confirm over the next week or so.
Cost will likely be the same as last year - $270.
Competitor entry form details to follow. Who's coming?

Hope you told them the same thing as I did, that it was just bad luck, and that you guys only had a narrow window to do it....

agree with Tim, event dates never suit every body.
just pick the date and stick to it.

Re: Rotorua Winch challenge 2013
Fair call.
It was more for interest and seeing who's keen.
I realize you can not keep everyone happy and I'm sure they will make the most of what they have,
Cheers again

Re: Rotorua Winch challenge 2013
Dates and land access confirmed (as of 20 mins ago) for 7th and 8th of September.
We need to know by the end of the week if we have enough trucks to run. We need 12.
If you have any concerns over weather or not you truck is allowed to run, pm me and I will take it to the committee.
WOF is not required (except challenge class ofcourse)
Regarding class I believe we will be running challenge and "other". Yet to be finalised
