KZN130 Hilux hubs

Post by Elmo »

A mate of mine has just bought a 94 surf. KZN 130.

The front hubs are permanent hubs. Can these be changed to manual locking hubs?

Is it as simple as pulling of the caps and fitting hubs?

The reason we want to do this is to help prevent all that drag and extra wear through the front diff and transfer case etc

Has anyone done this before? Is there any reason NOT to do this mod?

Are there special hubs that need to be bought?

Does anything else need to be done to the hub? etc?

have done it and its fairly easy to do.
theres a few hubs available. asian are the stronger but only available 2nd hand afaik.
otherwise new AVM's http://www.4wdbits.co.nz/ProductDetails ... uctID=3954
i think there is a few other brands around including copies of the asian ones.
