which auto 'boxes fit a MU?
which auto 'boxes fit a MU?
A friend has got a 2000 Mu with a melted auto box. It has a 4JX1 heui diesel motor and I was thinking that a 'box out of a wizard or a bighorn might widen my choice of second hand bits.

isuzu rodeo bighorn trooper monterey jackaroo also known as a Acura SLX honda jazz(yes they were even badged a honda) honda horizon, Subaru even sold them under there badge,Ssangyong family. Pretty much anywhere General motors had its finger in the pie you will find these engines and transmissions.
The only one i haven't seen on nz roads with the different badge is the Subaru badged one's
Most of them are cancelled orders to other countries so end up here with funny names. Others share the same drive line but differing platforms but most are a isuzu with different logo's

And further to that if you can source a good 4JB1 and trans they are a better engine then the 3.1, less prone to exploding.

thanks for that, I had heard a different story, from the garage trying to sell my friend a $5k recon gearbox...
Just done injectors and rail pressure sensor on the motor and had the sump off to check the pickup pipes so it can stay under the bonnet for a bit longer
I think he might be on the lookout for something less complicated when it's on the road again
