Terrano Alternator

Post by Bonus »

Hi Guys

I have all of a sudden started having problems starting my truck, tried to start it this afternoon and would not start, felt like just a dead battery. Gave it a jump and it started no worries and drove it home. Left it for an hour and it wouldn't start again. Tested the battery and its producing 12.46v with the ignition off, and with the engine running produces 13.65v

Is this the sign of a failing alternator???

Cheers

Check your voltage at 1500rpm with the lights and heater fan going and a warm engine. Ideally you want to see 14.4 volts. Most terranos are doing well to have 13.8 to 14 volts but are ok at that voltage, any lower and your battery will not be getting fully charged.
