Hey yeah I might have, I brought a box of bits off a guy a while back and he reckoned the carby was off a 1600 he put in his samurai - will you recognise it if I post up some pics?

Hey sorry ran out of time to head out to the shed and get some pics last night but I will after work today.
As far as payment goes, if you have a spare suzi 8 valve 1.3 carby lying around we could do a swap?

Here's a few pic's, looks like it's been sitting around for a while...
It looks very similar to the one on my 1.3, I was thinking if it fits I could throw it on and see if it does what it's supposed to, I'm guessing if it needs a rebuild would probably be easier for you to source one locally off a working engine?

Hey sorry for the delay - So I swapped the carbs over and couldnt get it going, bumped into the guy I got it off and now he's 99% sure it was off his old 1300! Sorry to stuff you around - but all the best with finding one.

No they are different. You could run a 1300 carb on a 1600 but you would need to put bigger jets in it.

so what i was thinking was get another 1300 carb and then swap the jets over because they are much easyier to find than 1600 ones would this work??

Yep the jets are easy as to change, I would swap the secondary jet into the primary hole and then fit a 140 to the secondary hole. You need to either find a carby specialist or go wrecker hunting to find the different jet. The jets are inside the float bowl and you can get to them by removing the bolts the blue arrows point to in the below pics, they are screwed in and you use a flathead screwdriver to unscrew them. The jets have the size stamped in them on the head so it's not hard to tell which is which. And yes I have done this, it worked great on my 1600, the plugs were the perfect colour.

oh yeahp cheers for the help mate have had it apart before to see if it was just dirty inside but yeah its abit more than that, idk why or how but it looks to me like the butterfly valves are worn out like you can see gaps down the sides, and its sucking in to much air and choking out the engine

Get some start ya bastard or similar and spray it around the carby, when the revs go up that is where it's leaking air in.

yeah ive done that ae and it did so i sealed all the gaskets with gasket goo but it was still dieing, so i sprayed it in the carb with the butterflie closed and it reved up, also i was talking to a guy and he said that hes got a carb off a mitsubshi from picka part and hes had it on there for 5 or so years and hasnt had any trouble with it

Yep you can fit carbys from different models as well here is a howto on fitting a Toyota carby, they have used a 3k but a 4k would be better suited and they are EVERYWHERE! :D
