Evening ORE,

So I blew the clutch in my Safari today, SWB GQ TD42. I was just after some experiences about the different clutches on the market.

I have no plans on turboing the beast so is a HD clutch an over kill or is it worth putting a HD clutch in a NA 4WD.

I went this one over 1yr ago no problems if your going to turbo it spend the dollars on a good clutch setup

Cheers Taz, I did see those last night and they looked quite good. No plans to turbo but I don't want to do the clutch twice. Accessing them isn't my favourite Saturday/Sunday activity. (First time I've had to do one on one of my cars though..)

I got mine from Autoclutch in Kingsland, they know there stuff and are reasonably priced. I have a non turbo Safari running 35 inch Simexs and have had no problems.

Yeah I agree with Nizzanman - Give Tom a call at Autoclutch (09 849 3737) He has rebuilt a few clutches for me to better spec than a heavy duty one for less $$ than I could get a standard clutch.
He usually wants your old setup including flywheel so they can stone grind it and then set it all up and function check before you hand over any money.
Alternatively send him an email - they are pretty quick at replying: tom@clutch.co.nz

I got their 4 terrain unit, best thing I did, it really is a pleasure to use.
I priced around ak, this HD unit was priced as much as others wanted for std. First safari ive owned, did the clutch myself, pulled the eng to replace it, 8hrs later........ sorted! (found both eng mount rubbers were sheared too and replaced them.) make sure you plane the flywheel. Pre book them if trying to do in 1 day - note if flywheel has deep crazing can take quite a few hrs as I discovered...
