Bulb Codes

Post by uptomynutsinruts »

Hi all,

Feel free to flame the shit out of me for this but what is the difference in bulbs eg H3, H1, H9 and I think I have seen T5 also.
So what does this all mean?
And what is the legality of having LED Bulbs for headlights, park lights etc or ice white coloured bulbs?

Cheers

The code eg H4 (most common) is the bulb style for want of a better word. A H3 type bulb is quite different, for a different application. (both headlight bulbs) Prob best to try search hella or narva websites and check bulb (globe) types.
LED is fine to replace globe, as long as light colour is as required (ie not blue anywhere, red only to rear etc), and must have suitable light output (lumens).

Just a wild guess here...

The H stands for Headlight?
T for Tail light?

Shit I dunno

Please ignore if that's total crap!
