Access Rivers & Beaches Canterbury

Post by access4WD »

Please note that Spring is Bird Nesting season.
Shingle Rivers and beach areas are favoured spots for many birds and vehicles can create issues.
All Canterbury based 4WD Clubs agreed many years ago that in SPRING we will try and KEEP OUT OF RIVERS & BEACHES in Canterbury, at this time of year. In rivers mainly the lower reaches and especially in the open shingle areas as this is where birds nest.
If forum members would kindly note this it would be appreciated.

We are also working with E-Can, DOC and other local authorities on beach access for Pegasus Bay. There will be a Working Group officially formed that will look at the long term aspects of the preservation of Pegasus Bay, and there are many issues to look at, Vehicle access is one. We will have representation on the group through Combined 4WD Clubs and I will keep the ORE Assn & Forum members in general updated on this as time goes by.

Take care and I will keep especially Canterbury people abreast of river and beach access issues as they arise. :)
Thanks
