IMPORTANT CENTRAL OTAGO SERPINTINE TRACK USERS

Post by 2roky »

please note that when on this track please stay off private property  . i am good friends with the landowner out there and he is having problems with recreational 4x4ers wreaking his tracks    . when headin to lake onslow vai the church please stay on the left hand side of the fence at the second gate after the church (i think its still a taranaki gate) have fun and please stay on track thru the boggy areas most of it is hard bottomed if a little deep.

i take no responsibility for those who get stuck or damage their truck following this advice :!:
if any1 wants a map of where i mean please let me know
cheers

I now do my homework 8)

We need to realise that this is the most important aspect of any trip
DO YOUR HOMEWORK.

What you guys have talked about on this thread we need to get through to the wider 4WD people, and that is good trip planning so we get on the front foot and not defending 4WD activities due to us being on the back foot because some one drove on private land by mistake.

thats very true just because there are wheel tracks in front of you doesn't mean that you automatically have the right to go there.

the problem comes with how to get people to their homework on trips like this its all very well for us to sit here and say do your home work but we need to be more proactive about it other wise places that we go to will eventually be shut down for good. just like the upper Ahuriri valley there is a hut that you could drive to easily but now doc has shut down that section of road due to irrisponsible actions of some if the 4WD fraternity.

its these people we need to educate on what they are doing.

i say its time to get out the education stick and start doing some educating

 what, is it really that bad that people can't be bothered door nocking

If your pleasent courtious and especially if you've got a toy with you  I've gone in to ask for access to paper roads, just being polite and had farmers come out and eye up the bike and in the end take me for a trip round there farm 8) so I can play on better tracks

I'm planing a trip at the moment (for when the Lemon is all go...) 8 different properties we will be going through, cutting boundry fences in some places to get through.... and thats just from stopping in for a chat  hell one of the farmers wants to bring his hilux along! and two others want to come along for the ride

Cheers Reece
