Air horn help please.

I'm looking at replacing the horn on my truck.
With my older 80 I was going to sort out an air tank for my Ironman FlowPro Max compressor. This one below.



I was going to run a truck horn off it.
But now I've sold that truck and just have a shiny 80 I was looking for a air horn system that has it's own compressor. But all the ones sold at Repco are piss ant.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

These ones are supposed to be loud...
Small in size and also come in 24v

I can promise you that they aren't loud. My old man brought one for the G-Wagon and was disappointed. One of the air horn kits with twin compressors will do a much better job.

Ahhh. It looks like I'll have to go with a compressor after all.

I've already got this collected so far.



I'd like to have the compressor mounted in the rear but still portable. And mount the air tank under the rear where the spare wheel can mount. I've got plenty of piping and fittings. I need a PRV fitted to the tank and an electric cut off solenoid gizmo to switch the compressor off once it reaches desired pressure.

"Do it yaself!".
See how I go.

How pathetic is this for a stock standard horn on the 80.
The one on my motorbike sounds more intimidating.

put the handle back into the fire extingisher but remove the valve.poke the compressor outlet up the hose of the extingisher and remove the gauge or fill port which you should be able to get standard air fittings to fit to run the line to your horn and t a line off for your pressure switch.works good!ask willie if he remembers the air horn i had in my familia when he was back in wellington.i blasted him pretty good one day

Cheers mate. I asked Willie if he knows a tow99 but it's got him stumped.

Anyway.
Got all the parts together and working today. Fit it tomorrow.

I've got it setup so I can unplug the 45amp power wire from the truck and plug in the extension lead to the aligator clips, meaning I can still use the portable compressor for what I brought it for. I can also unplug the pressure regulating switch from it too.
Had the pressure set at just 50psi and those horns might not look much, but man, they do the job.

i run a hella (soon to be 2) in my truck. they are the constant air supply truck horns. they are about 140dB at 2m so really loud. Would recommend them. The only issue is you need an air tank constantly full.

Got the pressure switch from "smc.co.nz" here in CHCH for $60. And yep, it's adjustable.

The compressor and airlines are fitted. Just have to wire it all up tomorrow.

How's the fittings and tubing after 15minutes of the compressor running? If, when you pump tyres up? Due to operating temps! Have you had it on this long yet?

I hear what you're saying.
But it's only mounted in the truck for the air horns. It's easy to detach the air feed to the truck and run the stock standard air hose that came with the compressor to fill the tyres. It's not permanently mounted to the truck. Takes 5 seconds to remove it.
