GQ manifold plate to make turbo manifold wanted

Ring autobend and they can do one or take a gasket into any engineer and they can plasma cut you one..

Re: GQ manifold plate to make turbo manifold wanted
thanks, i was hoping to be able to buy a one piece plate rather than 6 individual units...
Re: GQ manifold plate to make turbo manifold wanted
Autobend will make any shape you want,we use them at work for all our exhaust parts.
If they don't have the manifold plate on file send your gasket and they will cut it from that, they also can supply you with mandrel donuts for your tight manifold bends.

Re: GQ manifold plate to make turbo manifold wanted
When I looked into it Autobend was about $90 and Chase was somewhere around $60. Autobend has the CAD file all ready to go whereas Chase needed either the gasket or a file that was to scale. I think they just mean dimensionally accurate. I found this dxf file for a tb45 but its all the same.

It's on the second page at the bottom, you have to save the link otherwise it just opens with a bunch of numbers.
Haven't got round to getting it done yet but if I do I'll be going to Chase and getting a couple cut up. Hopefully the file is all they need. If you do use the file and go to Chase could you reply whether or not it worked.

Re: GQ manifold plate to make turbo manifold wanted
I can't comment on chase as we don't use them and all the prices i get are trade price, but you would be hard pressed to beat autobends range of standard exhaust systems or there performance range that include bigbore systems for safari, cruiser and terrano .
Re: GQ manifold plate to make turbo manifold wanted
Well that flange landed would be over $100, might as well buy one here for cheaper. That manifold would probably be between 250 and 300 landed and like all cheap chinese shit it's exactly that. Most of those cheap manifolds need further machining to mount up nicely. If you can weld and don't mind doing it i don't see why you wouldn't for half the cost and the experience. Just my 2c

Sorry
Re: GQ manifold plate to make turbo manifold wanted
autobend is certainly not cheap for one off flanges. they can be a bastard to deal with. (its in the catalogue at xyz price and you can order it, but no they won't make it ever!)
but one of the crowds makes extractors for the TD42 so they have the pattern on file.

Re: GQ manifold plate to make turbo manifold wanted
No they are not the cheapest but do a good job.
"Muskie " Seeing as you live quite close, if you get stuck let me know i can get it trade price for you.

Who was doing the extractors?

I had a set of lukey ones on mine till I turboed it. Think you can get pacemaker ones aswell. I know you can get them through our local magoo place.
Re: GQ manifold plate to make turbo manifold wanted
if you have a template go see the man at collins profile cutters on sunshine ave,he cut me two 1uz manifold and turbo outlet flanges for 50 bucks. i used gaskets as templates.
modified surf, hardly drive it seem to keep modifying it....

Re: GQ manifold plate to make turbo manifold wanted
kinda hard to use gasket as a template as they are six individual gaskets for a safari,at least the the ones I brought for my saf were, you might be able to get a one piece gasket but I don't think so(someone on here must know for sure)best bet would be to use old manifold as a template.good luck with it all
cheers craig

Re: GQ manifold plate to make turbo manifold wanted
thanks for the info guys, i want to make one this time as the dsr one i had before rqd further machining and wasnt all that great to be honest, also i want the turbo mounted a little further forward so the down pipe is easier to fabricate. the turbo is mounted to close to the fire wall on the dsr/chinese ones.... thanks again certainly helpful
