4-6 July

Post by yael »

Looks like I get to start this one off...

Decided a couple of weeks back the poor old GQ wasn't going to pass a WOF on rust and tyres so today I've cut the rust out from around the windscreen and 3 other spots on the roof welded patches in and rust killed them, Just need trusty ole bog now to make them look pretty..

Also got enthusatic and did a rear quarter chop so now I have to figure out how I'm going to finish it off to make it look good now haha

Also has any one got any good pics & ideas on how is best to do a front guard chop to fit 315-75-R16 ??

^^ front guards are a piece of piss to chop compared to the rear guards as the rear are double skin and the front are single skin, just mark out where you want to cut(masking tape works well)attack with angle grinder with a 1mm cutting disk,i used a cresent to fold a new lip along with a little hammer and dolly action.dont forget to paint any bare steel or mr rust will be paying you a visit :) you can also use radius arm spacers to push the diff forward a bit,it helps with front tyre rubbing on the rear of the front guard.

Still waiting for parts to arrive for the terrano, then i can get stuck in.

Cleaned up garage again, sorted tools and what not out so i know where everything is, also started mucking around with the go kart.

Mounted engine to a plate so it can be mounted to frame, and started sorting pulley's out, what a pain when ya dont have anything to base them off, considering front mounting the engine.......

gearbox is 90% done.
made a few stuff ups and got well used to pulling gears/bearings off. just have to make up some decent breathers for it.
the shifter bushes where completely stuffed. some heavy duty marlin ones going in.

Cleaned my Jeep! Inside and out, took all frigin day! Then changed my front right suspension ball joints, took 4 hours! Have learned and hopefully the left side will be easier. Thank godness for the correct tools! She looks real flash now though!

pulled out toyota stupid little gearbox breathers, tapped the case and fitted some air fittings. got the last of the shifter bushes in. fitted the shifter and found the gearbox was locked in reverse.

@#$% ! ! :(

pulled the cases off, put it into neutral, all back together and all ok.

fix up the clutch today. replaced the spigot bearing, first time using the grease method which worked perfectly but a messy clean up.
packed out the pivot point so hopefully now the clutch engagement point won't be buried in carpet !

hope to have the gearbox back in tomorrow.
