my understanding is the split xfer case which Im guessing you have will take any pto that will fit the hole.. just need gears etc.. then you can mount any winch providing you can run the shafts..levers etc.. oh Im guessing it's a LJ71/78 ? otherwise fked if I know..

If it is a LJ/KZJ 71/78 then the 40/60/70 cruiser pto will adapt BUT your transfer case will not have the gear inside to run it (geuss they were weight saving) so you need to find a wrecked 70 series transfer box and remove the gear from it and also the spacer while you are there, Manual and auto doesent affect this. Hope this helps Leigh

Here's my bit on putting in a PTO on the Prado...
http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/Forums/ ... 18&t=25791They share the same split transfer cases as the older 70's.
And the gears fit.
The Prado's never came out factory with a PTO so as said there is no gear in the case.
You can get a new gear from Don Kyatt but its not as cheap as a used one .
As for the spacer, you can recycle the one in there and reduce it by the thickness of the gear. Lathe job.

If you are front mounting the winch it can be tucked in real nice, make a bracket to bolt it to the front x-member then wrap a bullbar around it. My fairlead only sits about 50mm further out than the original bumper did. I had to shorten the 70 series driveshaft I got with it, put a notch for it in the bottom tank of the radiator & make up a bracket for the lever.
Cheers
