Hey all,

I got a box of free bees today and in that box I found a turbo from a wrx td04.

Does anyone run these in there safari? I though it looked a little small but its free lol I would do a j pipe just so I can get some more grunt out of my wagon.

Had a little look on google but couldn't find much

Any info would be great.

Cheers

most i've seen run TD05 on patrols.
TD04 is often 2.8-3.0 diesels. thats assuming it has a suitable compressor side. however i don't know all the variations, pay to check which version you have.

i can't find the info at the mo but a 20g is on the big side.
a 16 small is probably more suited to his fueling.

there is some very very long threads on patrol4x4 on this.
someone did put up a list of turbo's, boost to run and power outputs.

Cheers guys yeah the info I found online was mainly for the smaller wagons.

I'm only wanting to do around 10psi just to help on hills etc on road and extra go in the mud.

I know most people use the TD05 and that's one I would prefer to run.

Yeah I have heard the 20g is a bit big but it should give me some noticeable power gains.

Is the td04 what you find on the terrano's as its a 3 bolt mounting flange?

Bogboy is the td05 you have for sale?

If you don't use it I might be interested in buying it off you.

The tdo5 with the 20g wheel is waaayyyyy to big. You'd need some pretty serious pump and motor mod to get it to work properly. For what you whant to do ,you want a tdo5 of a wrx. With the small wheel. You could use the tdo4 to set the truck up while you're looking for a tdo5 then it'll just be a caseof swapping units over. I would stronly recomend that if you do fit it put a rebuild kit in. They are cheap enough and give you some reliability. Learnt that one the hard way. Luckily i was in town when it failed and not bush

i run a td05 with 16g, pretty good spooling up from 1200rpm, tops out about 3300rpm, i always thought something bigger would be nice but like others have said the next step is the injector pump.

that's interesting as on mine it was at full boost at 1800rpm and held smooth to red line. did have the superback kit in it and ran at 1bar which maybe the difference

hey guys

im running a td04 on my truck...boosts up fast but I think its a bit on the small side if I was doing it again id go back to a td05 16g and get the pump mod'd

you can easily get 20 psi at 2000rpms and on the td05 you'd get around 18 psi on the same fuel settings so yea not a lot between them other than the td04 comes on boost from idle

cheers Jake
