Removed my snorkel and sanded it back and painted it all, much nicer now without all the little rust spots on it.

Also got a new trim piece for around the hole in the guard.

Matt.

Got up early and worked on the LR, by 10:30am I had the chassis painted where I'd altered it and the put the bulkhead back on. Rest of the day was spent doing the final aligning of the body, mounting the rangies brake booster, cutting the guard to fit the range rover booster and master cylinder and making mounts for the radiator.

Managed to spill power steering fluid all over the driveway

Bit of cutting here, bit of grinding there, some welding for good measure, also a bit of paint to make things look factory, (as factory as they can look anyway).

1x air filter housing, old inlet blanked and new inlet welded in to produce this.

Image

1x L/H front tow hook mounted

The before shot.

Looked like this before painting it.

And after I made it look close to factory mount.

Once I put the cover back on and get a bit of mud on it, I'm sure it will look like it's always been there.

Next weekend is a shooting weekend so no welding for me :D

Finished putting together engine donated by rowinz, new oil seals, rings & big end bearings, put on the reconditioned head (also from rowinz), then pulled the engine out, swapped over all the bits, and now it's sitting on the garage floor waiting for a new clutch plate so I can put it all back in the truck. A big effort! And some pretty creaky rafters in the garage with a dirty great 2F hanging from them...
Next is the fun of getting it all back in....

14/15th
Quiet weekend at home with Mrs Husain doing nothing but making hot water
Image

16th
Did what I hate most and got my hands covered in grease down in the shed, got sick of the old power steering pump squeeking and squeeling. Stuck in a replacement pump that I found on trademe a while back, this one wont flex and loose its belt tension like the old one did.... I hope

Na man, 3 weeks is about ideal - it starts getting a bit hard to cut the tails off any bigger and they get heavy bloody quickly!
